| John Kozan was born on May 23rd, 1983 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
In fifth grade he auditioned for the Panther Run Elementary School Steel Drum Band.
Fueled only by his love of music and basic knowledge of piano, he soon became one of the school's Calypso Cats.
He became one of the star players in the band and soon realized that music would soon become more than a zero hour school activity to him.
In sixth grade he decided to take his music a step further and he joined the middle school band.
Once he picked up the Trombone, there was no stopping him.
He found his calling.
From there, he was always sitting first in the band throughout middle school.
Soon came the multiple band camps plus All-District and All-State Bands.
He also passed his audition for the Dreyfoos High School of the Arts.
The jazz band that John joined in high school made it as a finalist in the 1998 Essentially Ellington Festival at Lincoln Center in New York City.
This is where John truly discovered jazz.
Through the years, John tried to find his own voice on the horn and decided that New York City was the best place to be while doing so.
He sent in a tape to the New School University Jazz Program and he got accepted.
Here we are in present day.
John is a young, fresh, and talented trombonist ready to take a bite out of the Big Apple.
